During the 2023 annual meeting of the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance on April 27, Wang Pan, the director of China Automobile Data's power battery department, reported that the average lifespan of new energy vehicles currently exceeds the industry's projected range of 6-8 years. Furthermore, the retirement peak of power batteries is expected to occur later than previously predicted. As of the end of 2022, a total of 510,000 new energy vehicles and 24.4 GWh of power batteries have been decommissioned.
